Right before surgery, every anesthesiologist is going to speak with the patient and throughout the patient’s medical procedure they are going to be administering the proper amount of anesthetic that they should be getting. Anesthesiologists are responsible for monitoring the patient’s heart rate, the patient’s breathing, and they also monitor the patient’s blood pressure throughout surgery so that the doctor can focus. Becoming an anesthesiologist is a very detailed and technical profession and you have to at least go to school for 12 years before becoming me.
The first thing you have to do is get started in coursework such as science and biology in high school and college as well. Doing well in courses like these is extremely great and recommend for someone entering into a medical school and it can most definitely work to your advantage in the processing of your medical school application.
The next you need to do after you have completed these courses is you need to get an undergraduate bachelor’s degree. If you get a pre-med degree majoring in science and/or biology, then this can most definitely help you get prepared for your career in medicine. Of course this isn’t a prerequisite for you to become an anesthesiologist but it makes it easier. There are a ton of other backgrounds and subjects you can major in to get into the medical school you want. Regardless of your achievements, just know that your academics are what really matter to get you into medical school.
The next action you need to take is you need to go and take your medical school exam for entrance. When you have gained your entrance, what you want to do next is get your Medical Degree from a medical school that has its accreditation. The amount of time it usually takes to get your M.D. is usually 4 to 6 years.
After you have gotten your degree, the next thing you need to do is get into a residency program, and you will spend at least 4 years of further training. You will also go through sub specialty training at a fellowship that is going to last for at least 1 to 3 years. When you have gotten through all of this, you then go to take your board certification exam for anesthesiologists. The exam is oral and written and you will take it once you have gotten through your residency program.
